Facebook Organic Reach

Some real news on Facebook Reach;

By Guy Besley, The Digital Media Strategist,

Some great research has been carried out by Agora Pulse on Facebook Reach statistics, and this certainly appears to be the most accurate information to date, not to mention interesting.

facebook reachWith this in mind, I have absolutely no doubt or change in my view going forward of the power of the Facebook platform and the potential to get real solid Facebook Reach. I still stand by my strong opinion that this platform will be the base of all communication online (obviously that’s a gross exaggeration, so don’t take me literally) and will certainly lead to the demise of the Google Superpower, which incidentally is well underway as we speak.

Consider the fact that we, as business, want Facebook Reach and may have to pay a little to access our fans? So what! Consider we may also have to pay to gain our fans? So what! We have the power to decide exactly who we want our fans to be; the abbility to advertise or promote to the exact demographic we are looking at targeting. Lets be serious, who isnt happy to pay a little for that? The only ones complaining about spending money on Facebook are those who are already spending thousands (if not more) advertising via old chanels to a vast array of people that may or maynot be the correct demographic.

So Organic Facebook Reach is disappearing? Well it appears not completely based on this research. That said, im sure it is disappearing, but so what, we can still market to our targeted market very very cheaply like never before!

Its not all fear and gloom, embrace Facebook as a genuine means of advertising and marketing and expect to pay a little for the convienience and power of this MASSIVE platform!

After all, you wont beat it, so join it.

Carpe Diem.

A little extract from the study below.

Thanks to the Agorapulse’s Facebook Page Barometer, we have access to metrics of more than 7,000 pages of all sizes, spanning all industries and regions.

We spent some time analyzing that data, and the results surprised us.

Yes, the overall average across all pages is down globally. But, the remaining average reach is far from insignificant, and more importantly, there are still an awful lot of pages, large and small, which are reaching insanely well before spending a dime.

We analyzed the average post Organic Reach metric on an industry-by-industry basis in order to spot industries that were up, industries that were holding steady and those that have gone down.

Our goal here is to demonstrate Organic reach is not dismal for everyone.  And even if it’s not for the majority of pages, there are still pages for which reach is going up or is steady.

There is a fairly large disparity among the millions of Facebook pages out there. Even if Facebook once announced that a Facebook page was reaching 16% of its fans, Some pages still manage toreach 40% of their fans with each individual post.

Should they kill their Facebook page? Hell no!

Keep in mind that sample size and averages are, by definition, just an indication. The reality is far more complex and diverse.

Here is the infographic with our results:
